"The subjects I paint are real and often commonplace, I chose these subjects based on my personal response to them in order to share a moment or a pose - to remind us that in our busy lives that there is simple beauty to be found when we take the time to really see. Painting is all about learning to see.
I am most inspired by a blank canvas or pastel surface; the possibilities are infinite and challenging.
The solitude and revelation found when working on a painting creates its own momentum.
I use archival painting materials in whichever medium I working in, to guarantee longevity of the finished piece.
I enjoy creating transparent glazes in oil, in pastel, the visual blending and texture of colours is compelling, the tones almost vibrate.
I love to draw at any opportunity."
