Nothing like a full moon ride. 😃

We have the most amazing team of people helping our horses get the most out of their time here, on the way to their forever homes. Our horses learn that they can form a connection with and understand, not just one person, but all the people who come into their lives. It gives the horses so much more confidence, exposure and opportunities than if I were working with them all on my own.
I have always sold some horses, but a few years ago I made the decision to buy, rescue and take on horses to work with, sometimes rehab, and to sell. It’s been so hard to say goodbye to them all and sometimes I wonder if I made a mistake to start this venture. My heart can hardly take it when I sell them, but every time I hear how a horse is going it makes it all worthwhile. Plus every time a horse moves on to a new family it opens up a spot in our program for another to find it’s forever home with the help of our amazing team. For us it’s not about first in first served, or the highest bidder, we always try to find the best match possible between horse and home.

All of these beautiful horses are or have been for sale.

Beautiful pic and lucky horses to have time with you and your crew and have you find their new homes. Would be rewarding work even if hard to do.

Can’t thank you enough for my awesome lil lady ❤️

Sugar is the one horse I’ve searched my whole life for! From the moment I met her I knew she was going to come home with me, she is the most special soul! Perfect for either myself or the kids, she takes care of everyone. I can trust her with anyone. Ellen and her team have been the best support through the years, always willing to give a hand or advice! Xxxx I love my Sugar xxx

I have some fond memories of the farm. Bliss will have to come visit you on her world tour in a few years time

You are awesome Ellen Mittendorf Bennett

This little video has a few things I find helpful when catching a recently wild or newly handled horse in the paddock, especially at the start.

If you have followed me you may know Luna, she has been one of the trickiest horses I have ever worked with. I am super happy to be able to use her in this video 😊 I was able to catch her very easily this morning. “Catch” isn’t even the right word.... “I was able to help her put a rope on”....but “catch” is obviously an abbreviated way of saying that.

Was such a windy day! Sorry for the poor sound quality.

Hopefully eventually nobody will ever guess why Luna originally was named Luna and her name will just allude to a heavenly body😆 She looks lovely 💕, great job Ellen!

What a beautiful mare

Beautiful Luna

Love it

Beautiful horse 🤩

This is one of my Kaimanawa stallions from the 2019 muster. In this video Griff had been out of the wild for 4 1/2 months. I had done something with him most days during that time. He had been curious, tense, reactive, sweet, playful, worried, loving, interactive and more. It’s a journey he didn’t ask to take, but one I wanted to try to make as good as possible.

When I would come into the paddock that he shared with his muster mate he would immediately come striding over and stand next to me and start yawning.
There is so much behind yawning, licking, and chewing in horses. It has been attributed to many things.

In the video, at this moment I don’t want to overthink it too much.

So much of what we have taken on board as fact previously, has been either disproved or changed over the last few years as we grow as humans. So despite research, herd behaviour and science etc, I think he just wants to be with me. Not because it is unpleasant to be away from me, not because he is needy and unconfident in the world, but just because he likes to be with me. We have done lots of things together over the time we have had at this point, we have a relationship that is good for him and for me.

Paradise at its best

Gorgeous on every level <3

Looks like a cool place!!!!

This cute video made my day! It’s from Sugar’s owner. Sugar is so loved. It makes me so happy.

Her owner said, “Because I’m out by myself now, I walk lots beside her and let her choose where to go (not the sort of thing you do when riding with others 🤣), and so we spend a lot of time wandering about looking for yummy thing’s to eat. She loves thistles so I’ve always got an eye out for her, it’s rare to find them at this time of the year so it was a nice little treat!”

You can see how Sugar’s ridden life was started in a video from 2016, “Starting Sugar”.
